Celebrating festivals in school fosters cultural appreciation among students and teaches social awareness beyond textbooks. It encourages harmony and sheds light on the beauty of diversity within your classroom. Eid-al-Adha, one of the significant islamic festivals, is fast approaching. Celebrated to mark the end of the annual pilgrimage of Hajj, it commemorates the devotion of Prophet Ibrahim to Allah.

Let us look at five ways to infuse Eid al-Adha festive spirit into your classroom -

1. Read An Eid Story

When your children are learning about cultural topics, it's good to make sure they understand the reasons behind these practices. On the occasion of Eid-al-Adha, educate the students regarding the significance of the festival. This allows the learners to understand and respect the greatness of islamic culture and traditions.

2. Get Crafty

Why not urge your students to roll up their sleeves and get crafty if you're intending to bring the joyous atmosphere of Eid-al-Adha to the school? Ask them to make stars and moons to decorate the classroom. You can also encourage the kids to make greeting cards and give them to their friends, using colored papers, gift wrapping paper, pens and other art supplies.

3. Children’s Show

Ask the students to put on a show to celebrate the festival. Have the children prepare a few days before so that it really feels like a special performance. They could sing nasheeds, recite Quran or even put on a play.

4. Charity

An important part of Eid-al-Adha is remembering the significance of sacrifice and giving to those less fortunate. Continue this theme, by taking some time in the day to serve the community. Ask your older students to volunteer for charity works and donate toys or clothes to foster homes.

5. Food Platter

To complete the spirit of Eid, make sure that you involve your students in creating a delicious and theme-based platter. A few items that you can ask your students to include in the food list are dates, sweets made of dates, sherbet and pomegranates. Allow them to assemble their food platter and share with other students.

These five simple yet creative Eid activities for your students allow some fun time while enlightening them about the true spirit of the festival. You may further engross them by sharing Eid stories or intriguing facts about the Islamic culture. So, choose an activity and involve them to spread cheer and joy on Eid-al-Adha.
